Why USC lost Steele's commitment
While 2019 St. John Bosco HS CB Chris Steele claims USC isn’t the perfect fit for him, the Trojans actually parted ways with him because of the high potential for NCAA drama.
Shortly after Steele committed to USC, the Trojan compliance office was approached by multiple parties, including USC247.com, with evidence he took improper benefits. The evidence shows these benefits were funneled from USC recruiting reporters. Scott Schrader of TrojanInsider.com and Ryan Young of TrojanSports.com are the two reporters accused of doing so. Ryan Abraham and Gerard Martinez of USCFootball.com were also said to be approached about providing improper benefits to Steele, but there’s no evidence they did.
USC still holds commitments from 2019 cornerbacks Trey Davis and Max Williams and are recruiting several other cornerbacks to join the class.
