Wednesday Whispers: Dismay From Within Over Personnel Decisions
A group of players is heading into the Oregon State game reluctantly, feeling the program is being hamstrung by personnel decisions.
They don't understand why certain players are on the field . . . or off it.
They were slightly dismayed when Clay Helton announced JT Daniels would start against Oregon State as long as he is healthy.
"JT is starting and everybody felt great about Jack's effort and thought he deserved another chance," a player who did not wish to be identified said.
But it is not just at quarterback where questions are being raised.
"Some players don't understand why (Vavae Malepeai) doesn't play more. They don't understand why the coaches are down on Stephen Carr," the player said. "We accept it but we talk about it. It comes up in the locker room."
There is one silver lining: Offensive tackle Chuma Edoga has clashed the past two seasons with former offensive line coach Neil Callaway. So that problem is solved.
But there are some doubts about why Clay Helton from within the team. And even outside it.
I'm told one local recruit who already committed does not even return Helton's text messages anymore.
Will he decommit? Stay tuned.
