Suspended USC Player Was Previously Arrested

Suspended USC Player Was Previously Arrested

USC is not only losing football games, it is suspending multiple players in multiple games. Sources said one of those players was arrested, which led to his punishment.

So what happened?

Linebacker Levi Jones was suspended from the Cal game. According to public records, Jones was arrested last July in Pasadena for a misdemeanor offense. He was released the same night of the arrest.

Why did USC wait so long to punish Jones? Did it just find out last week? USC coach Clay Helton has not addressed the matter.

Linebacker Raymond Scott was also suspended for the Cal game and previously suspended for the Utah game. Defensive end Hunter Echols was suspended for the Utah game.

Helton typically does not address suspensions.

Some sources said Jones was dismissed from the team but Helton has not confirmed it.
