USC Wins Ugly At Oregon State, 38-21

Clay Helton unveiled some changes now this he is calling plays for USC.

He had JT Daniels take some snaps under center and also used Vavae Malepeai as a fullback on some plays.

Did he need Tee Martin’s permission before or was he just trying to show up Martin after demoting him?

Unfortunately for USC, the defense remained the same and could not cover the middle of the field, which allowed lowly Oregon State to remain in the game.

Helton described this week “as hard a week as you can imagine,” on Saturday night after he fired offensive line coach Neil Callaway and demoted Martin earlier this week.

But now we know Callaway was not to blame for the center snaps because Toa Lobendahn had several bad snaps on Saturday night. Helton said the coaches changed Lobendahn’s grip on the ball but it did not seem to help.

Aca’Cedric Ware rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Trojans.

Notes: Helton said WR Michael Pittman suffered a shoulder injury and TB Stephen Carr suffered a "lower-body injury."
