Wednesday Whispers: Key Performer To Return To USC In 2019
When USC lost to Notre Dame, a key player signaled he was ready to leave the Trojans.
But in the past two weeks this changed and now USC will enter the 2019 season with an important piece of the team back.
Wide receiver Tyler Vaughns considered turning pro. However, several players close to Vaughns tell me he is going to return for his junior season.
Those same players told me in late November that Vaughns wanted to go pro. But his frustration might have changed after control of the offense was taken away from Clay Helton and given to Kliff Kingsbury.
There is a feeling within the team that a clean slate will allow more players to contribute without Helton’s stubborn method of playing favorites. Examples? Center Toa Lobendahn and quarterback JT Daniels were entrenched starters last season.
So USC will have one of its top reeivers back for 2019. That has to make Kingsbury happy.
