OT target: My family had season tickets, the USC offer special!
Jeffrey Persi is quickly emerging as a must-have lineman amongst Pac-12 teams.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound junior from JSerra Catholic added his sixth scholarship offer from “the conference of champions” on Thursday and it came from USC.
“I was called out of class today and asked to report to the football office,” Persi said. “It’s been humbling to get so many visitors over the last few weeks! So when I walked in the office I noticed three USC coaches there talking with Coach Harlow. I was introduced to them, Eric Ziskin, Tim Drevno and, I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t get the other coaches name. They explained that they’ve been following me and really liked all the film they have on me. They also said they really liked my size and they wanted me to visit the SC campus soon so they can show me around. They congratulated me on my season, and knowing I was pulled from class they asked me to get back to it. I told them it was an honor to meet them and shook their hands.
Later in lifting Coach Harlow handed me Coach Drevno’s business card, asked that I call him after lifting and said ‘Fight On’. So after lifting and cleaning up I made the call to Coach Drevno. On the phone Coach Drevno he said he was fired up about me and extended the offer. He explained that he wants me to visit the campus soon and he was looking forward to showing me around and watching some film together.”
The scholarship offer also holds significance to Persi for a few other reasons outside of the Trojan name.
“I’m sure you’re aware that Coach Harlow played for USC so it’s certainly special to him,” Persi said. Growing up my whole family has always been SC fans so it was easy to follow along the path. My parents had season tickets to the Coliseum for many years. Prior to me starting youth football on Saturdays, so I would attend many games with my Dad. It was hard not to be into them with having so many fun times there and obviously the team having so much success over the years. Needless to say this is a special offer for me however, the previous offers have been so great and appreciated as well. I’m truly humbled, blessed and honored to be where I’m at in recruiting and I have my coaches, teammates and family to thank for all their support.”
Persi says he plans to visit USC soon along with other schools that have offered him a scholarship.
