On Monday, Xavier Carlton was offered a scholarship by USC’s Kenechi Udeze to play defensive end for the Trojans. Although he’s just a junior at Modesto, Calif. Christian HS, it’s clear this scholarship offer has already made an impression.

“I’m excited about the offer and opportunity,” Carlton told usc247.com. “USC is a great school, offers a great education with a great football program and great tradition.”

The 6-foot-7, 245-pound prospect is already quite familiar with the school’s campus. He says he took a visit to USC very recently.

“I did an unofficial visit to USC at the end of July,” Carlton said. “Hoping to get back to the school during the season or in the winter or spring.”

When asked if a commitment could come anytime soon, Carlton said that wouldn’t happen.

“My first priority right now is school, my team and having a great season,” Carlton said. “I’m humbled and blessed by this process and the offers. I'm looking forward to learning more about the schools and programs.”
