Ross' father: It's done, we're leaving
Redshirt junior safety Ykili Ross was removed from USC’s roster just days before the season opener against UNLV. When pressed for answers, representatives from the school revealed Ross’s intention to graduate from USC before transferring to another program in December.
Soon after this announcement was made, fellow safety Bubba Bolden was suspended indefinitely. The USC depth chart at safety suddenly was very thin.
So despite everything that’s been reported, there still seems to be hope amongst Trojan fans (or at least among USC beat reporters) for Ross to make a return to the roster. Clay Helton was asked about the possibility after Wednesday practice.
“His status is still the same,” Helton said of Ross when asked if he could return to USC. “He’s not on our active roster.”
While that’s a truthful and accurate answer, Helton seemed to leave a window open for Ross’ return. Ross’ father, Roo Ross, was a bit more forceful when asked about the chances his son returns to USC.
“We’re leaving,” Ross informed usc247.com via text message.
When asked if there was any chance for Ross to change his mind, his father made it very clear that there isn’t a chance for that to happen at all.
