Source: Lobendahn is confident he can play now
A source close to Toa Lobendahn has informed usc247.com the redshirt senior lineman feels confident he can play on Saturday against Stanford (5:30 PM PST, FOX).
Lobendahn did not play against UNLV as he was recovering from a pectoral injury. He has been limited in this week’s practice as well.
This source was adamant a decision on the starting center position has not been made yet by the coaching staff. He says there’s a chance Lobendahn’s wishes to play are overruled to protect himself from further injury.
Clay Helton said after Thursday’s practice he would set his starters on Friday.
If Lobendahn sits for a second consecutive week, he will be replaced by redshirt freshman Brett Neilon. Neilon earned rave reviews for his season opening performance against UNLV.
