Thursday Whispers: Not Everyone Unhappy Kliff Kingsbury Left

Thursday Whispers: Not Everyone Unhappy Kliff Kingsbury Left

There are some obvious winners with Kliff Kingsbury departing, like quarterback JT Daniels who might not have to earn the spot next season if Clay Helton is in charge.

But there are some other players probably by what happened this week.

Tailback Stephen Carr was going to participate in spring practice and then see how he felt about the Air Raid offense, according to sources. Tailbacks know the Air Raid is not friendly for them.

Lawndale tailback Jordan Wilmore is committed to USC but expected to sign with Utah or Boise State.

Why? Because Wilmore is not impressed with USC’s tailback-by-committee approach and also concerned over the development of USC tailbacks.

You might counter that argument with Ronald Jones but he just had a disappointing rookie season with Tampa Bay, gaining just 44 yards. That is not what you expect from a second-round pick.

Wilmore also knows Clay Helton might be a one-year coach. Even Kingsbury’s departure probably will not be enough to keep him in USC’s recruiting class.
