Tuesday Whispers: Discontent With Lynn Swann Continues
During the long weekend, there was one constant at USC: Lynn Swann remains under heavy barrage of criticism.
Before the USC-UCLA basketball game at the Galen Center, many boosters gathered at the Founders Room and a common topic was Swann’s disastrous decision to ban the song girls from the basketball games. Boosters laughed at Swann’s claim that there was not even space for the Song Girls and noted there was space for Rams cheerleaders to attend the game.
But disdain for Swann is not limited to fans. We hear a USC head coach (not football) is telling friends they have no confidence in Swann as athletic director and does not believe he can change his image or fix his sometimes prickly way of dealing with people. The coach said Swann’s “coldness” makes it hard to believe in him as a leader.
At other schools, this would be a big deal. At USC, it is known as Tuesday.
