Wednesday Whispers: Early Word On Graham Harrell-Clay Helton Relationship

Wednesday Whispers: Early Word On Graham Harrell-Clay Helton Relationship

The early reports on new USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell have been positive from within the football program.

Players and fellow coaches say he is bright and shows a lot of respect to everyone in the program.

This is all viewed as a good thing for next season. Now, here is what some insiders wonder: Will Harrell be too nice or respectful to stand up to Clay Helton when choosing the starting quarterback.

Kliff Kingsbury had complete control of choosing a quarterback. Does Harrell?

That remains to be seen.

“A lot of players are wondering about this?” said a USC assistant coach. “Some fans might find it hard to believe but many of the players really want Jack Sears to start. If they pick JT Daniels, a lot of players might lose respect for Harrell.”

What happens if Harrell wants Sears and Helton wants Daniels?

That is the key question that could determine the fate of the Trojans next season.
