Monday Whispers: What Is Going On With The QB Competition?
There has been a weird twitter campaign recently to portray JT Daniels as a team leader.
Tim Drevno and Clay Helton have tweeted pictures of Daniels with his teammates. Nothing wrong with that. But the photos were retweeted by L.A. Times sports writer Brady McCullough with comments noting Daniels “working to be a leader.”
Radio host Petros Papadakis followed with his own comment: “Someone’s trying for sure.”
That seemed to be directed at Daniels’ father. Why? I spoke to a USC coach who told me Daniels’ father arranged for the first meeting last week and other quarterbacks declined to attend the forced photo op. Even some offensive linemen declined to attend.
It would be easy to ignore without a twitter campaign to inflate Daniels’ reputation.
The only thing that matters is who Graham Harrell and, unfortunately, Helton, want to play QB.
Not some twitter campaign. But that can’t be helping team unity either.
Sportscaster Jim Hill was at USC this morning interview women’s golfer Allisen Corpuz. They used the golf simulator at Heritage Hall.
A great question is how much time Lynn Swann spends using the golf simulator, especially since he claimed in an interview with the Athletic that he played only three rounds in the past year outside of three USC tournament appearances.
If you believe that, you believe Helton is a great football coach.
