Tuesday Whispers: Beware Bad Takes On Team
When I write something about the USC team, it comes from talking to players and some coaches.
I mention it because there are "experts” on the Internet who peddle analysis with absolutely no sources.
Here is an example: “some of the `negativity on the 2018 Trojan team’ has disappeared with the departure of the group of Trojan players who have moved on."
Is this true?
Let’s see: Monday morning a coach told me the players still roll their eyes when Clay Helton speaks.
But let me get specific:
I previously reported a player took off his uniform before the 2018 USC-Notre Dame game because he was upset he wasn’t going to start and refused to play? That player will be a JUNIOR next season.
I previously reported a USC player told an assistant coach he would beat him up on the sideline of the 2018 USC-UCLA game because the coach reprimanded the player for committing a penalty. That player will be a JUNIOR next season.
I previously reported a player was secretly suspended from a game for being disrespectful towards the coaches. That player will be a SOPHOMORE next season.
Does this sound like a group of seniors were the bad apples and things are better now? There were some unhappy seniors last season. And USC players might behave better next season. But it won’t be because a group of bad apples moved on. That is an ignorant take.
