Tuesday Whispers: Morale Sinks At Heritage Hall
I told you last week USC was getting rid of former coach John Robinson as a goodwell ambassador and wanted to charge him for his season tickets this season.
But people were upset because Rick Carr, the USC security director, was let go by Lynn Swann.
Carr is best known to the public as a sort of bodyguard for the head football coaches for more than 20 years at USC.
Here is the most surprising fact: Carr told colleagues Clay Helton was the worst coach he worked for in terms of being treated with respect. Not Lane Kiffin. Not Steve Sarkisian. Not Pete Carroll. Not Ed Orgeron. Not even Paul Hackett.
But Helton. There are a large number of people at USC who say Helton’s nice-guy image is a mirage.
One of them was former offensive coordinator Tee Martin, who complained to other coaches that Helton often backstabbed him.
Swann is not popular either after he told Carr USC did not require his services because there would be no more scandals to worry about. Let’s start the clock on that and see how long it takes before something else happens.
