LB on campus trip: After that visit, I’m very interested in USC
At one point in time, Dahlin Mesake was a committed to BYU and that commitment seemed set in stone.
The 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebacker made his pledge to the Cougars in the summer of 2017 and said all the right things when asked how solid he was.
He was so convinced that BYU was the right school, he didn’t even bother to announce every new scholarship offer like so many of his peers do.
But just about a month ago, the product of Bishop Gorman HS in Las Vegas backed off his commitment. And while he says BYU is still very much in the hunt to sign him, he’ll look closely at other schools that want to recruit him. He already holds scholarship offers from SEC schools like Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and Missouri and Pac-12 schools like Oregon and Washington.
While the coaches at USC have not offered a scholarship yet, they’re looking closely at Mesake. In fact, he visited USC last week and enjoyed it.
“USC was very impressive,” Mesake said. “A lot of tradition and greatness, so it was pretty humbling to be at a place like that. After that visit, I’m very interested in USC.”
