Wednesday Whispers: The Wide Receivers Speak Again
A highly touted skill player who is considering USC, Oklahoma, Michigan and Washington recently spent time with the Trojans’ wide receivers.
And what did he hear from a receiving corps that is considered by some to be the nation’s best?
They pretty much all said the same thing: Jack Sears should be the starting quarterback.
I have written this many times before but it still can be surprising at how unanimous they are about it.
“Every receiver told me they wanted Sears,” said the recruit. “They said he throws a better ball and is a better leader.”
There is no way Clay Helton does not know this. Last year, the team captains went to him after the Arizona State game and asked for Sears to start. Helton refused and said it was out of his hands.
Will Graham Harrell, the hot-shot offensive coordinator, allow Helton to do it again this year?
