Three-star DT Sekona commits to USC
Just months after receiving a scholarship offer from the USC Trojans in May, three-star defensive tackle Jamar Sekona decided he had found his future home.
The 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle from Marin Catholic HS in Greenbrae, Calif. announced his commitment to USC on Tuesday. He chose the Trojans over scholarship offers from eight other Pac-12 schools and a few others such as Nebraska and Kansas State.
“First off I would like to thank God and give him all glory for blessing me with these amazing opportunities, my mother for all the sacrifices she has made for me to pursue my dreams, along with my wonderful family and friends,” Sekona said on Twitter. “Especially the coaches who have molded me and have paved the way for my success. I would also like to thank every school that has blessed me with the opportunity to further my athletic and educational goals. After a long and great process, my family and I believe this to be the best fit for me. Along with God by my side, i am proud to say that I am 100-percent committed to the University of Southern California. Fight On.”
Sekona is USC’s second defensive commit in the 2020 class and the second defensive lineman to make a pledge. With proper development, he could be a run stuffing nose tackle at the college level.
