Monday Whispers: USC Has An Early Issue In Training Camp
We have had two practices at USC and what I hear from insiders is that Clay Helton is hellbent on starting JT Daniels while players prefer Jack Sears.
Three wide receivers told a recruit that visited USC over the weekend that Sears should be the starter. They even talked about it in their dorm at USC after a practice.
This is in stark contrast to most media reports, which favor Daniels.
Who is right?
After two practices, you can’t really say what quarterback is definitely ahead of another. But people tend to favor one and reinforce their perceptions with a pass here or there.
The one fact is that most players favor Sears. It might be because they don’t like Daniels’ personality but it’s fact they prefer Sears. And Helton prefers Daniels. So we have an issue.
I’ve heard former USC safety Matt Lopes is working in the football offices with recruiting. He is the son of USC administrator Steve Lopes.
